Page Summary:

The text explains the proportions of adult male bodies using head measurements, highlighting the invariability of bone length during bending. It advises students to observe bone directions and refers to specific plates for visual guidance. Proportions for children and mature men are noted as clearly depicted in the plates without further explanation.

English Translation of this page:

The measurements for the smaller parts of an adult male can be determined using the dimensions of the head, as seen in Plate No. I. The two upper sections each form one-eighth of the head, and the lower sections each form one-fourth of the head. It is important for students to note that the body and external limbs maintain their length, even when bent, because bones cannot shorten. Therefore, they should observe their direction, which is not difficult, as the extremities of the bones can and should be sufficiently visible at the joints, as depicted by the artist in Plates VIII and IX.

Finally, for the proportions concerning children and the heads of mature men, it was not deemed necessary to mention anything further, as everything is clearly marked and accurately represented in the Plates.
