The text discusses the differences in the upbringing of boys and girls, noting how these differences lead to men being physically stronger and bolder than women. It mentions that boys engage in more physical activities, which helps in developing their strength and character, whereas girls are traditionally kept closer to their mothers and partake in quieter activities. The text uses a proverb to illustrate the impact of proportion on elegance in depictions.
Proportional Limb Measurement
It is said that our female models often resemble the gracefulness of a maiden rather than the strength of a woman. There is a common proverb: a foot on a nose makes a big difference. It is hard to believe how much half a head's length can affect the elegance and the proper or improper proportioning of an image.
The great difference between the bodies and minds of men and women is largely due to their different upbringing. This contributes significantly to their natural character. Thus, men are generally bolder and physically stronger than women. This is because young boys, through various exercises, develop a more masculine nature compared to young girls who are raised quieter and closer to their mothers. While girls engage in activities like making dolls and other delicate crafts, boys, in contrast, are less attached to their mothers. They engage in more physical activities and bold behaviors, which stretches and strengthens their limbs. Instead of playing with dolls, they take up bats, hoops, marbles, tops, and other items. They prefer drums, guards, horses, or anything else that sets their hearts on exciting ambitions.
