Measure and Service of

To stand against someone is as much as to take his side and fall hard. To be stiff or bold in demeanor is to be valiant, fearless, shameless, and bold of mind, and so on, among which modes of speaking, the Divine Writers, especially the Prophets, who commonly use emphatic and strong words, constantly engage.

And although the eyebrows only make up small parts of the face, they have a very great ability in expressing essential emotions and sensations of humans. For just as their shapes or forms are different, they also discern different actions and movements, which are the natural and accidental impulses, to portray and help achieve the utmost perfection. There is also much to notice apart from the variety in color and stroke of the hair, regarding their innate markings. And we will find in the expression of actions and passions, occasion to say something specific. Particularly where the eyebrows appear to indicate seemingly hidden things. Thus, we often find that people with thick, bushy eyebrows are not very eloquent: they may be rich in the multitude of thoughts, but, sad of spirit.

An Old Writer certainly noted that those who have very fully bushy eyebrows, tightly drawn, are often ungodly people, murderers, and bandits. Eyebrows that are arched and are raised repeatedly in speaking, can be deemed haughty and rash-headed fools. Considered malicious and stealthy people in books.
